Notice of Bylaw Posting – British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
Updated Aug. 18, 2020
Thank you for your interest in the proposed bylaws for BC’s new nurse and midwife regulatory college. We’re pleased to provide nurses, midwives, the public, and other key stakeholders an opportunity to provide feedback.
Board members and staff from the two colleges have worked together to create new bylaws, which are now posted for consultation. The Ministry of Health has also been kept closely apprised of our progress. The aim has been to create bylaws that will enable the new college to be fully functional from Day 1 of amalgamation, Sept. 1, 2020, on the basis of the following principles:
- • to make no major changes besides those required to continue regulating the four professions (nursing, practical nursing, psychiatric nursing and midwifery);
• to make some changes necessary for the transition itself;
• to clarify or enhance bylaws that support our current work; and
• to update bylaws for the new governance framework.
How will feedback be used?
While all comments and suggested changes will be reviewed and given full consideration, we cannot guarantee that they will be reflected in the final version, which will require approval by the first board of the new college.
Please submit your feedback to bylaws@bcnursesandmidwives.ca by Aug. 27, 2020. Please be sure to reference the bylaw section when giving feedback, e.g. Section 7(2).
